Grateful and Grieving

Climbing Psalm 24 with a Heart That Holds Both

Most of us were taught to praise God on the mountaintop and to endure the valley. Nobody taught us what to do when gratitude and grief live in the same heart.

JD Bellamy climbs Psalm 24 verse by verse and shows that the ascent was never about escaping your pain. It is about carrying a whole heart, grateful and grieving at once, into the presence of a God who is Himself the mountain.

  • Why gratitude is not denial and grief is not unbelief
  • What clean hands and a pure heart actually require of a climber
  • How to leave what God is calling you away from without losing what He gave you there
  • The altar waiting at the top, and the open heaven beyond it

Grateful and Grieving · JD Bellamy

It starts with the person who may not know who God is.

Grateful and Grieving is for anyone who ever had to start over. It climbs Psalm 24 verse by verse, for the reader who is carrying loss into a new season and is not sure gratitude is still possible.

It shows how gratitude and grief can live in the same heart: gratitude that is not denial, and grief that is not unbelief, carried together into the presence of a God who is Himself the mountain.

Every chapter gives a practice, because “a revelation you can't carry into Monday is just a moment.” What you learn on the climb is meant to be lived on the ground, in the week that follows.
